Striving to be a missions-minded church means much more than just going out into the world. It’s about sharing Christ’s love wherever we are: a foreign country, our own nation, New York City, our homes, our offices, our schools. Global Missions and Community Impact are two of our ministries designed to help us work towards living out the Great Commission lifestyle.
Global Missions
We’re helping to transform Vision Church into a more kingdom-focused body by getting involved in God’s work around the world. We’re doing this in three ways:
- Partnering with full-time missionaries through prayer, financial support and other means
- Sending out short-term missionaries on mission exposures and projects
- Informing and updating the congregation on the work of various missionaries through monthly Missions Moments
How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”
Romans 10: 14-15
Community Impact
We seek to exemplify the love of Jesus and build the kingdom of God by serving the underprivileged in New York City – physically, emotionally and spiritually. Our focus is on making an impact with the impoverished, the youth, the imprisoned and the community at large. We aim at providing Vision Church with opportunities to serve the community, while building lasting partnerships with organizations in the metropolitan area.
Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen:
to loose the chains of injustice
and untie the cords of the yoke,
to set the oppressed free
and break every yoke?Is it not to share your food with the hungry
and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter—
when you see the naked, to clothe him,
and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood? Then your light will break forth like the dawn,
and your healing will quickly appear;
then your righteousness will go before you,
and the glory of the Lord will be your rear guard.
Isaiah 58:6-8
